Nonnie has loved through many a night,
Opened and closed a great many doors,
Needed and kneaded a mountain of joys,
Nursed, wept, and grieved for the ones time destroys.
In her is a pleasure that passion restores,
Each morning a dawning of music and light.
Mother, you are so full of love and compassion
I wish I could understand the depth of it all
You have always been there for me
Picking me up whenever I fall
It takes a brave soul to become a good cop
Risking everything for little praise and pay.
It’s true that some may abuse their badge
But for the majority we gratefully pray.
I once had a dream
one that I could never forget
where I had to make a choice
that I hope I wouldnt regret
