Teachers (Angels in Disguise)

TEACHERS (ANGELS IN DISGUISE)

Soon after god made the world
He rested for a day
Then called his trusted angels
And softly began to say:

`My world`s got lovely people
Hills and brooks and splendor
But someones missing in it
Angels, make me someone better!`

And so the angels toiled
Working every day and night
To make this perfect person
A creation worth delight

With precious dainty clay
They shaped the lovely mold
Blending lots of love and courage
They prepared a heart of gold

With intellect and power
To shape a childs young mind
And gentleness, they added
To make this person kind

A guiding lamp in darkest times
And a friend in solitude
When nothing would seem right
Hope he would exude

In time, the angels work was done
A creation bright and vibrant
Someone who was endowed
With every divine ingredient

God breathed life into the mold
Delighted with this creature
He smiled like he had never before
And said, I`ll call him Teacher!

******************************
Let us all look around today
And see that we are truly blessed
For these pearls of heaven stand among us
Our guardian angels, just differently dressed

Today may be our last evening together
But we know we`ll never drift apart
For each one of you, dearest teachers
Shall forever stay within our hearts...
