Diploma of dreams

The day came faster then I could've dreamed.
I never knew I'd see this stage,
Or shake his hand.
Receiving this diploma,
Was magical.
Each year I worked a little harder,
I was going to make it.
My diploma,
Is my passport to the world of dreams,
Free to take me to a new place.
Today is the day where you say your good-byes,
So you are able to enter a new world,
The world of opportunities.
I never knew I would cry,
I promised myself I wouldn't shed any tears.
I never realized I'd be giving up so much.
My friends are leaving,
We are all going our separate ways,
Our different dreams are carrying us away.
But tonight I give my toast,
For the friends that are true,
Will stay beyond these high school walls.
