I wish I could tell you, Dad

Dear dad, how are you?
I thought you should know
Today is Father's day
And I do love you so

I wish you hadn't left me
I really needed you here
I could've been happy
Why'd you disappear?

I wonder everyday
why you took so long
did you not miss me,
did I not belong?

I rode my first bike
And fell off of it too
My boo boo just hurt
dad, where were you?

I was afraid of people
And school was my fear
Daddy, I was scared
I needed you near

You missed my drawings
And all of my A's
I worked very hard
For the rest of my days

Thinking you would come
And be so very proud
But later I found
being happy's not allowed

Fifteen years later,
I can see you whenever
I just can't forgive
And I can't wait for never

Because you're still you
And I don't think you care
Whenever I'm around
It's like I'm not there

So I give up on wishing
and waiting around
My love for you is there
but yours can't be found

The last time you hugged me
Was the day that you left
And if you ask me
I call that a theft

So, I'm left here feeling
a little broken inside
Feeling unwanted
like a part of me died

But dad, I'm always here
I've been waiting on you
All I long to hear
is "I love you too"

Until then, I will hide
Never knowing how to say
"Dad, You're my wanted hero
And happy Father's day"
